Displaying a beautiful teal speckled with gold beadwork band across the back of the hand, these dark brown leather mittens are named for Shavano. This Colorado 14er is in the southern Sawatch Range just east of the continetal Divide and just west of the Arkansas River. The mountain is named in honor of Ute Chief Shavano and is famous for the Ange of Shavano, a snow formation in the image of an angel that emerges on the east face during the snow melt each spring.
Astis leather mittens are hand-sewn in the USA from dark brown high-quality suede leather with hand-stitched beadwork and are lined with Polartec® Thermal Pro® High Loft insulation. Working directly with a tannery in the USA, we developed a suede leather, injected with silicone during the tanning process for further waterproofing, that is extremely durable yet retains great dexterity.
As each leather glove and mitten is hand-sewn and uses natural materials, each leather mitten will possess slight variation in the look of the leather and beadwork. Astis embraces these subtle differences and views them as unique gloves more akin to works of art.
