Displaying a beautiful beadwork band across the back of the hand, these dark brown leather mittens are named for the highest mountain of Antarctica, Vinson Massif. Lying in the Sentinel Range of the Elsworth Mountains, which stand above the Ronne Ice Shelf mear the bas of the Antarctic Peninsula, the massif is located about 750 miles from the South Pole.
Astis leather mittens are hand-sewn in the USA from dark brown high-quality suede leather with hand-stitched beadwork and are lined with Polartec® Thermal Pro® High Loft insulation. Working directly with a tannery in the USA, we developed a suede leather, injected with silicon during the tanning process for further waterproofing, that is extremely durable yet retains great dexterity.
As each leather glove and mitten is hand-sewn and uses natural materials, each leather mitten will possess slight variation in the look of the leather and beadwork. Astis embraces these subtle differences and views them as unique gloves more akin to works of art.
