Displaying crossed arrows in beadwork band across the hand, these black leather gloves with white stitching are named for the mountain Gangkhar Puensum.  This is the highest mountain in Bhutan and the highest unclimbed mountain in the world.  Bhutan opened it's borders for mountain climbing in 1983 but closed them again in 1994.  During that time there were four unsuccessful attempts.  Bhutan has banned climbing any mountain higher than 6,000 meters to respect local spiritual beliefs.

Astis leather gloves are hand-sewn in the USA from tan high-quality suede leather with hand-stitched beadwork on the back of the hand and are lined with Polartec® High Loft insulation. Working directly with a tannery in the USA, we developed a suede leather, injected with silicone during the tanning process for further waterproofing, that is extremely durable yet retains great dexterity.

As each leather glove is hand-sewn and uses natural materials, each leather mitten will possess slight variation in the look of the leather and beadwork. Astis embraces these subtle differences and views them as unique gloves more akin to works of art.
